Itching to upgrade to the next iPhone? You might want to wait until the end of this month.
Apple announced its upcoming special event for Monday, Sept. 9, with many predicting the technology giant will unveil the latest mobile phone — the iPhone 16, along with its Pro and Pro Max models.
Following the news, many outlets have pinpointed a specific launch date for the new iPhone, though it’s unconfirmed by Apple officials. If it is announced during the event, Ohio can expect its eight Apple stores statewide to be filled with customers as soon as this month.
When is the iPhone 16 rumored to be released?
While Apple has not officially announced when the iPhone 16 will be released, both Forbes and consumer technology publication CNET anticipate the release date could be Friday, Sept. 20.
How did they come to that date? They highlight Apple’s upcoming event and its tagline being “It’s Glowtime.” New iPhones typically go on sale shortly after the event, with experts sharing it’s usually the Friday of the following week.
“And, if the rumors are true, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will each get a number of significant updates, from new power-efficient displays and larger screens to better zoom lenses and the inclusion of an action button for all 2024 iPhone models,” CNET’s Sareena Dayaram wrote.

What will the iPhone 16 look like?
Not much is confirmed about what the iPhone 16 will look like. According to Bloomberg, the iPhone 16 is expected to have larger screens on its Pro models and new camera features, such as a dedicated button for snapping photos.
Apple is also set to roll out several artificial intelligence tools called Apple Intelligence, which the company highlighted during the Worldwide Developers Conference in June of this year.

- Rewrite, proofread and summarize text in mail, notes, pages and third-party apps
- Transcription services in the notes and phone app
