Because the reveal took seven years and arrived 21 years after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/history-lesson-toyota-supra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A80<\/a> dump-valved itself into the horizon.<\/p>\n<p>Now, after just five short years on sale, Toyota has confirmed this jet black, not-here-to-deal-with-your-<a data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"3bc0aa00-4e3e-4fd5-9690-6655df7b9989\" href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-reviews\/bmw\/z4\" title=\"BMW Z4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BMW<\/a>-gags special edition is the last one. Hence why it\u2019s called the \u2018Final Edition\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContentSpliced\">\n<div data-testid=\"PromosInContent\" class=\"sc-beqWaB fVphFz\">\n<div data-testid=\"MpuPremium1\" class=\"AdContainer-sc-6dj55u-4 bNWfzp\">\n<p>Advertisement &#8211; Page continues below<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 fMuzYa\">\n<p>It\u2019s bowing out not as a stickered-up special, but rather more ungracefully via a series of updates that draw inspiration from the A90\u2019s competition pedigree. Stuff like drifting, endurance and even NASCAR, as well as the championship-winning GT4.<\/p>\n<p>So it\u2019s more powerful. Much more powerful. That (BMW) 3.0-litre straight-six \u2013 matched up exclusively to a (BMW) six-speed manual gearbox \u2013 has been treated to a new intake air path and \u2018optimised\u2019 engine controls to somehow liberate a power boost from 335bhp to 429bhp. Nearly 100 additional horsies and around 50lb ft more of torque (a new total of 420lb ft) is what you\u2019d term \u2018healthy\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 fMuzYa\">\n<p>There\u2019s a new baffle plate to keep the oil distribution steady \u201cunder high G forces\u201d (read: heavy sideways), while the cooling system has been beefed up too. Top speed rises to 168mph and while there\u2019s no mention of acceleration numbers, it\u2019ll likely be in the \u2018rapid\u2019 category. Should sound fruity, too.<\/p>\n<p>And corner fruitily. Toyota has fitted adjustable KW suspension \u2013 with 16 rebound and 12 compression stages, just like the dampers you get in the GT4 contender. That\u2019s matched to new camber angles front and back, and \u2018optimisation\u2019 of the active diff to reduce understeer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContentSpliced\">\n<div data-testid=\"PromosInContent\" class=\"sc-beqWaB fVphFz\">\n<div data-testid=\"MpuPremium2\" class=\"AdContainer-sc-6dj55u-4 bNWfzp\">\n<p>Advertisement &#8211; Page continues below<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 fMuzYa\">\n<p>The electric steering&#8217;s been tweaked, while the body gets additional scaffolding via aluminium mounts, braces, and stronger stabilisers. The brakes are mahoosive 19-inchers from Brembo with high-tech accessories. The tyres are fatter and grippier, wrapped around bigger lightweight wheels.<\/p>\n<p>Looks fantastic, clad in matt black and wearing a wind-tunnel-honed aero pack lifted pretty much from motorsport that includes a carbon fibre front spoiler, some canards, a swan-neck rear wing, carbon fibre bonnet ducting, and an Akrapovic exhaust.
